Uses: Traditionally, native medicine
practitioners and herbalists have recommended
maca because of the way it stimulates the master
glands, pituitary and the hypertalamus.
| "Dr.
Herbert Benson at Harvard Medical School
has determined that a part of the Hypothalamus,
when stimulated, can produce activation
of the whole-body system. Another part of
that hypothalamus, however, when stimulated,
can produce a relaxation of the entire body."

From the Peruvian Highlands
Maca is a hearty root vegetable plant which
grows in the high Andean plateaus of Peru at
altitudes as high as 14,500 feet above sea level.
Little is known about the origins of maca (Lepidium
Peruvianum Chacon), the plant is believed to
have been cultivated in the Junin Plateau region
of the Central Highlands in an area called Cerro
de Pasco as far back as 2,000 years ago. The
Inca's of Peru were sophisticated builders and
cultivators of the land and may have been responsible
for the cultivation of maca which have been
found in archaeological sites. Many legends
exist about the nourishing powers of maca, such
as it's ability to promote sexual desire and
increased energy.
 |
Legend
has it that Inca warriors would consume
maca before entering into battle.
This would make them extremely strong. But
after conquering a city, the Incan soldiers
were forbidden from using maca to protect
the conquered women from the warrior's powerful
sexual impulses!
From as far back as 500 years ago, maca's
reputation for enhancing strength, libido
and fertility was already well established
in Peru. |

Maca has a reputation
for being an aphrodisiac; it is clinically proven
in scientific trials (Lima, Peru) to spice up
sex lives. A natural alternative to chemically
based products.
Men taking maca
have noticed more frequent erections, stronger
erections which lasted longer and more sexual
desire. Maca will work better for men if they
have enough zinc in their diet. Without enough
zinc the male body tends to convert the progesterone
it makes into estrogen.
The alkaloids
of maca affect the pituitary and hypothalamus,
and it acts on adrenals, pancreas and thyroid,
encouraging your body to produce and balance
hormones. more

Maca has been used traditionally
to increase energy and to promote improvement
in both stamina and endurance in athletes. Unlike
caffeine, Maca is a healthy choice for increasing
energy because it is not a stimulant.
The steady enhancement of both
physical and mental energy makes Maca Live™
an ideal supplement for students, professionals,
writers, athletes and anyone who needs a lift.
The fact that Maca contains no stimulants but
obtains its benefit from vitamins and minerals
makes it especially beneficial for individuals
who are constantly fatigued. Many people who
use Maca also report increased mental clarity.

Much confusion exists about maca
today with several species of maca being
sold.
The cultivation of maca is increasing
in the highlands of the Andes to meet the growing
demand world wide for medicinal uses. In this
severely economically depressed region, the
market created for maca will offer new and important
sources of income for the Indigenous Peoples
of the Andes. A new cultivar of maca has been
identified in the major growing regions of the
highlands which will supply much of this new
demand and it has been named Lepidium peruvianum
Chacon.
Other species called maca are wild or do not
grow in this specific region of Peru and do
not meet the medicinal and nutritional standards
of Lepidium peruvianum Chacón. Many
brands of maca are rated standardized and are
made in a laboratory as opposed to grown in
rich mineral soils that contain nutritional
support and alkaloids. Using only organic
premium grade maca root, Maca
Live™ is
considered the best all natural product available
anywhere.
Standardized maca is totally different than
natural pure maca root. For example would you
prefer fresh squeezed orange juice or concentrate
or a Tang® type product?
Maca Live™
is 100% organic and cold pressed. (Cold
press means low to no heat used in processing
which keeps the nutrients (enzymes) alive.
Most other maca is toasted or heat processed.
Maca Live™
grows at the higher elevations of 14,000 to
16,000 feet above sea level, in untouched nutrient
and mineral rich soil, it is organic and cold
pressed, which greatly enhances its qualities.
In the last few years the term STANDARDIZED
has come into the botanical market place, which
is the laboratory version of herbs. We believe
that pharmaceutical quality just doesn't agree
with our all natural philosophy. We use
only the finest and best premium quality organic
maca root.
We insure and guarantee the high
organic and raw quality of Maca
Live™. It is certified organic
by SKAL International, which has headquarters
in the Netherlands, and is approved by the European
Union and recognized throughout the world. It
is also rated USDA Organic.
